Lifeguards at the popular Patong Beach in Phuket rescued three Chinese women who were submerged by a giant wave on Monday morning.

Rescuers from the Kusoltham Phuket Fundation were alerted at 9:25am to take the three tourists to a hospital.

The lifeguards spotted the three women pushed underwater by the wave and rushed to pull them out of the water.

Two of the women were unconscious and lifeguards performed CPR on them. Another tourist was conscious but she had choked on seawater.

They were rushed to the Patong Hospital, where they were in stable condition.
