Thailand still targeting red shirt leader despite Laos’ ‘cool response’

Security authorities still attempt to locate hardcore red shirt leader Wutthipong Kotchathamkhun, or “Ko Tee”, over arrest warrants in 21 cases including for lese majeste, despite failing to get cooperation from his safe haven country, Laos.

Thawip Netniyom, National Security Council secretary general, said on Tuesday that Ko Tee is still in Laos.
He said he sought cooperation from the country.
“So far, there is no progress [from Laos to hand over Ko Tee],” he said. “We cannot do much because it’s all about cooperation.
“The best thing neighbouring countries should do is to give collaboration.
“We have sought cooperation at every level. Prime Minister Prayut, a deputy premier and myself have done so every time we visited the country.”
Asked if Thailand had failed to get good cooperation, Thawip said: “Sincerity to each other is important.”
Since early this year, Thawip has sent several requests to Laos authorities for Ko Tee to be arrested.
Ko Tee is said to be politically active there.
