Chiang Mai landslide wrecks house, buries road

A landslide triggered by days of heavy rain blocked a main road and damaged two houses in Chiang Mai’s Mae On district Wednesday evening.

The road was reopened to traffic on Thursday.
District chief Phattaraporn Laijud said the landslide occurred at 7.16pm in Moo 9 village in Tambon On Nua.
He said it destroyed the house of Thao Phochan and partially damaged another owned by Sompong Wat Taya. No one was injured.
Chang Mai Governor Pawin Chamniprasart had officials deliver daily essentials to the two families who lost their homes.
