Elderly woman loses foot in train accident
A 71-year-old Thai woman’s left foot was severed by a train at the Pak Chong Train Station in Nakhon Ratchasima province on Sunday morning.
The woman was provided with first aid at the scene and then rushed to the Pak Chong Nana Hospital.
Rice-cracker vendor Sukan Phrombutr was reportedly walking across eight railway tracks outside the station’s crossing zone when she was hit by a 14-carriage train transporting gasoline at around 7am.
She had attempted to cut in front of the train while it was removing one of its two diesel locomotives at the station and officials could not brake in time, said Pak Chong train station head Pisit Saengphrom.
