A 45-year-old Buddhist monk was found hanged under a tree behind Wat Pho in Nakhon Ratchasima's Muang district on Monday afternoon.

The body of monk Phra Krissadee Khemanantho who had been ordained for six years and was registered with Wat Kham in Kham Sakae Saeng district, was found at 12.30pm.

Police found medicine for depression in his sack that had been issued earlier the same morning by Nakhon Ratchasima Rajanagarindra Psychiatric Hospital.

Wat Pho CCTV footage showed that Phra Krissadee arrived at the temple on a motorcycle taxi and walked towards the back of temple, less than 10 minutes before his body was found.

As no one at the temple and nearby communty knew him, it was suspected he came to the temple to commit suicide.
