A fire damaged the chapel of a temple in Nakhon Nayok’s Muang district late Tuesday night.

Fire engines and firefighters managed to control the blaze at Wat Dhamma Panya at midnight after it damaged about 70 per cent inside the chapel.

The main Buddha image was damaged by the fire as well as the walls and carpet.

A monk said he had been woken up by six or seven teenagers who shouted about the fire and temple residents had tried to douse the blaze before firefighters arrived.
