Landslides, fallen trees block Chiang Mai roads

Landslides, fallen trees block Chiang Mai roads

At least four landslides and five fallen trees have blocked Sri Wichai Road of Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai’s Muang district since Sunday morning, said provincial disaster prevention and mitigation chief Pairin Limcharoen.

Officials have been working to clear the roads so that normal traffic flow could resume.
No injury, missing persons or deaths related to the events were reported.
Heavy rains also caused many waterways to rise, sending floodwaters to various communities, including Ban Mae Hia Nai (Moo 3) in Tambon Mae Hia. Deep water also made a section of Doi Kham-Bang Pong road impassable for vehicles.

In Hang Dong district, a road section behind Phra That Doi Kham was flooded.
With the North facing heavy rain for up to 60 per cent of its area, Chiang Mai administrators have joined with soldiers and related agencies to monitor water levels and evacuate residents as needed.
