Thais flock to buy Royal Cremation commemorative pins

Long queues formed at the Public Relations Department in Bangkok early morning to buy commemorative pins marking the Royal Cremation ceremonies for HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, with the souvenirs selling out later in the day.

The ceremonies will take place from Wednesday to Sunday.
Given the reverence expressed for the late monarch, the ceremonies mark a highly significant period for the entire country.
People were only allowed two commemorative pins each yesterday, as the stock was limited to 40,000 for the day, at a price of Bt300 per piece. Nearly 10,000 pins were sold within 15 minutes of them going on sale.
People who were unable to buy the pins yesterday can place orders at Bangkok-based branches of Krungthai Bank starting on December 1, with delivery in January.
