Organisers of a ceremony taking place on Thursday at the Buddhamonthon Buddhist Park in Nakhon Pathom honouring His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej were expecting 200,000 mourners to participate.
The estimate was made after 50,000 people had already placed flowers at the park’s reduced-scale replica of the royal crematorium between 9 and 11am.
At 11am, a long queue of mourners still waited their turn.
