Crematorium replica ceremonies popular with mourners

About 15,000 people turned up to place funeral flowers for HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the royal crematorium replica in Nakhon Phanom’s Muang district on Thursday.

Provincial governor Somchai Witdamrong led officials and the public in placing sandalwood flowers at the replica set up at City Hall Plaza in tribute.
District chiefs led parallel simultaneous flower-laying events at designated locations across the nation, the chief of each district led similar events at designated locations
As of Thursday noon, thousands of people had already participated and line-ups continued at many locations.
Wat Pa Pho Sri in Tha Uthen district drew 6,000 mourners to perform the rite, followed by Wat Phrathat Phanon in That Phanom district with a turnout of 5,000 mourners, Wat Phrathat Srikhoon in Na Kae district and Wat Phrathat Renu in Renu Nakhon district, which each saw at least a 4,000-strong turnout, as well as Wat Phrathatprasit in Na Wa district with a turnout of 3,200 mourners.
Volunteers in the 12 districts in the northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom had prepared 889,496 funeral flowers for distribution.
