Thailand e-Commerce Week to push online sales

Thailand e-Commerce Week to push online sales

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) will host Thailand e-Commerce Week at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre from November 24 and 26 to help create new online merchants within the e-marketplace and introduce them to “big buyers” from overseas.

Agency director Surangkana Wayuparb said on Tuesday the forum would be a platform for “creating potential and increasing opportunities” for entrepreneurs who want to develop their e-commerce business.
Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong will preside at the opening and give a speech on the topic “How Can the National Strategy Support e-Commerce?”
Prajin will also present Thailand e-Commerce People’s Choice Awards to several entrepreneurs.
Last year major retailers as well as consumers showed increasing interest in e-commerce, recording transactions valued at Bt2.5 trillion.
The greatest share of that was in retail e-commerce, known as B2C, a category in which Thailand ranks No 1 in Southeast Asia.
Surangkana said the numbers reflect the facts that buyers are accepting the trend and demand is on the rise.
The Thai e-commerce market is expected to grow to Bt2.8 trillion this year, up 9.86 per cent over 2016.
