A paramilitary soldier in Yala was shot dead early Thursday following a pub dispute, police said.

Police said the shooting took place at 3am in front of a pub in Yala's Muang district.
Yapha Mamu, 47, a paramilitary soldier in Yala's Raman district, was shot and killed behind the wheel of his pickup truck.
He was leaving the pub with his friend, Saha Yusoh, 55, village head of Ban Mai Kaen village in Tambon Nonegarm in Raman, when he was attacked.
Saha told police that Yapha had had a dispute with a man inside the pub and threatened the man with his pistol.
