Helmet-less PM sets a bad example on Children’s Day

Helmet-less PM sets a bad example on Children’s Day

Two cardboard cut-outs of Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha riding a motorcycle without wearing a helmet were removed from the Government House compound on Saturday after criticism that they set a bad example for children.

The life-size cut-outs of “Uncle Tu” were two of 14 put up to allow children to take selfies as they visited Government House on Children’s Day.
Chart Thai Pattana Party director Nikorn Chamnong, on behalf of the president of the Thai Safety Club, wrote on his Facebook that he was concerned about the two cut-outs because failing to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle violates the laws.
“The stands are inappropriate. They create a bad impression for children,” he wrote.
He also noted that more than 15,000 Thais motorcyclists died in accidents each year because they did not wear helmets.
