Machete road rage in Phuket results in arrest

Machete road rage in Phuket results in arrest

The video of a pickup driver pulling out a machete to threaten another driver after being “tooted” has gone viral. The man has since been arrested and police said they would lay charges.

He is being investigated by Muang Phuket police, along with the evidence, his 77cm-long machete.
The two-minute video shows a bronze pickup truck that was driving in the middle lane cutting in front of the car in the right lane and causing the driver on the left to toot him.
The truck driver stepped out from his vehicle with a long machete, calling for the car driver to get out while knocking on the window of the car.
The other driver did not exit his car. The machete-wielding driver then parked his pickup at the next U-turn point before running straight back to the car. At this point, the car driver started to call the police for help and waited for them to arrive and arrest the man with the machete. But the aggressive driver left the scene before police arrived.
A dash-cam recorded the whole incident and Muang Phuket police checked the pickup’s licence plate number and arrest the pickup truck driver. The car driver has accepted his apologies.
The pickup truck driver with the machete was 21-year-old Noppadol Sainoi from Nakhon Si Thammarat, while the tooting man threatened with a machete was Suriya Yabantum from Phetchabun.
