Police and soldiers searched a village in Chachoengsao for almost five hours but failed to locate two bank robbers who were seen fleeing to there on Wednesday evening.

The two suspects robbed a Krung Thai Bank branch at the Tesco Lotus Bang Pakong on Thepparat Road in Chachoengsao's Bang Pakong district and fled with almost Bt600,000 in cash.

They were seen riding a motorcycle to Sukhumvit 1 village in Tambon Bang Samak in Bang Pakong, leading to 100 police and soldiers being deployed to search 270 houses at 6.30pm.

After finishing with the houses, officers also searched a construction camp behind Tambon Bang Samak Hospital, but they did not find any signs of the robbers.

Almost five hours later, Chachoengsao police chief Pol Maj-General Thirapol Jindaluang called off the search, saying it would resume during the day on Thursday.
