The top five police officers at two Bangkok precincts were transferred to the Metropolitan Police Area 2 and 8 offices pending fact-finding probes into whether they had neglected their duties by allowing illegal activities in their jurisdictions, deputy national police spokesman Colonel Krissana Pattanacharoen announced on Sunday morning.

The superintendent, his deputies and responsible inspectors at the Prachachen precinct are under investigation after the Army recently raided a gambling den in its jurisdiction and rounded up 54 punters, Krissana said.

The top officers of the Bang Mod precinct landed in trouble after administrative officials raided a pub in the area that allowed entry to those aged under 20 and also found 135 patrons tested positive for substance abuse. In the latter case, officials also confiscated two pistols and arrested a person for illegal possession of ketamine.

Krissana affirmed that national police chief Pol General Chakthip Chaijinda had instructed all police jurisdictions to crack down on vices and human trafficking crimes.

The police chief has also warned his personnel that if other agencies made arrests in any jurisdiction, the responsible precinct would face a probe for any negligence. He urged the public to alert police of vices or human trafficking crimes on police hotline 1599 so that police central investigation officers could make arrests and also probe if local police had condoned such activities.
