Frenchman collapses and dies near Morakot Cave in Trang

A French tourist collapsed and died in front of a tourist destination in Trang on Wednesday afternoon.

When the tourist, Jose Rooseedeke, 60, was brought back from Koh Muk to a pier in Sikao district, he was already dead, police said.
Rooseedeke and his wife checked in to the Anantra Sikao Resort and Spa on March 22 and he was scheduled to check out on Thursday.
He, his wife and two friends had chartered a small boat to take them to popular tourist areas offshore Trang.
When they arrived at Morakot Cave on the island, Rooseedeke swam into the cave but then collapsed. His guide, who was unidentified, sought help from Haad Chao Mai National Park officials.
Officials brought Rooseedeke in a canoe to the chartered boat and applied first aid and CPR. He was later taken in a speedboat to Ja Dam Pier at Pak Meng Beach in Sikao district.

Pol Captain Sucheep Noo-udom, an officer on duty at Sikao police station, said Rooseedeke appeared to have a chronic ailment that had been aggravated because of the heat.
