Prasong Poontaneat has been promoted from revenue director-general to finance permanent secretary, replacing Somchai Sujjapongse, who recently resigned.

The appointment, made by the Cabinet, was announced after yesterday’s meeting.

At the meeting, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, director-general at the State Enterprise Policy Office (Sepo), was appointed as revenue director-general and Prapas Kong-Ied, director-general of Public Debt Management Office (PDMO), was named Sepo director-general.

Poomsak Aranyakasemsuk, finance inspector-general, was appointed as PDMO director-general.

Prasong, 59, served as revenue deputy director-general in 2008, finance inspector-general in 2009, customs director-general in 2010, Sepo director-general in 2011 and revenue director-general in 2014.

The Cabinet appointed Totsaporn Sirisampan, secretary general of the Office of Public Sector Development Commission, as secretary general of the National Economic and Social Development Board, a state think-tank agency.
