Baby’s body found partially eaten by monitor lizard in Chachoengsao

The decomposing body of a baby girl was found on a canal bank being chewed by a monitor lizard in Chachoengsao’s Bang Pakong district on Tuesday, local police said.

Kanissorn Chanthapakhao, 12, told police that he had noticed a monitor lizard pulling the body from under the high-platform rented house of Wanchai Piarin, 39, while he was walking along the canal in Moo 6 village, Tambon Thakham.
The boy alerted Wanchai, who chased the lizard away and called police.
The body, which had been partially eaten, was sent for an autopsy to Chachoengsao Hospital.
Doctors believe the baby was one to two months old and died about two days ago.
The canal is home to many monitor lizards.
