The corpses were spotted stuck against the poles of a house at the 100-year-old market in Tambon Ban Mail. They were dressed similarly with black trousers and T-shirts and each carried a black bag.
They were identified by their ID cards as Sayan Mungkung, 50, and Ratdawal Tungdee, 35.
No signs of violence could be seen on the bodies. Their bags contained a whisky bottle and snacks.
Police have theorized that one of them may have fallen into the canal before the other jumped in to make a rescue, but both drowned.
Their bodies were sent to Buddhasothon Hospital pending contact with relatives.
