Some 200 school and university students participated in a dengue awareness campaign held by Saen Suk Municipality in Chon Buri's Muang district on Friday.

The municipality, which is in charge of several popular tourist destinations, including busy Bang Saen Beach, organised the campaign at its offices.

Students from Burapha University, Muang Saen Suk School, Laem Thaen School, Wonnapha Sup School, Wat Thai Don School and Wat Tan Lom School participated in the campaign that exhibited how to minimise places where mosquitos can breed.

Mayor Naronchai Khunpluem said Chon Buri used to have the highest rate of dengue in the country.

He said Chon Buri has so far detected 545 dengue cases this year, with 14 reported in Saen Suk Municipality. No deaths were reported this year.
