Thai people in traditional costumes carry candles on boats during celebrations to mark the start of the Buddhist Lent in Phak Hai district of Ayutthaya Province on Friday.

More than a hundred boats with candles take part the parade in Lat Chado canal, in a procession comprising symbols of Buddhism to mark the Buddhist Lent or Khao Pansa, is a three month long period beginning on the first day after the full moon on the eight lunar month, which this year falls on 28 July.
