Rescuers have resumed their search for the body of a 14-year-old boy who drowned in a river in Sakon Nakhon’s Muang district on Monday afternoon.

Dujthaphet Onsopha was washed away by the bloated Phoong river in Tambon Lao Po Daeng in Muang district at 4pm while swimming with three friends near a fishing pier.

Rescuers searched for his body until dusk but had to suspend the operation because of the current at night.

Teams of scuba divers were dispatched to comb the riverbed for the body.
