A 60-year-old woman has been declared dead from drowning after falling into a roadside pond in Prachin Buri’s Ban Sang district on Wednesday evening while cycling home, police said.

The Ban Sang police station was alerted at 4pm Wednesday that the body of Darunee Fangrak had been spotted in the pond alongside her bicycle.

Her relatives said she cycled to a school near her home in a Tambon Thumpraew village to help cook lunch for the students. When she failed to return home in the afternoon, her relatives followed the path she normally took and discovered her body.

Police suspect she might have passed out while riding home and fell into the pond.
