A convoy of buses set off for North Korea Monday carrying South Korean family members to meet relatives for the first time since they were separated nearly 70 years ago.

The 89 elderly South Koreans and their travel companions set off from the port city of Sokcho on 14 coaches, with a police escort to take them to the border that has divided the peninsula since the 1950-53 Korean War.
