Bangkok bus firms in hot water after drivers shut down traffic

The drivers of two Bangkok buses that brought traffic to a halt in front of Central Lat Phrao mall on Saturday have been suspended from duty for 15 days.

The halted Route 44 and Route 8 buses totally blocked the road, infuriating passengers and other motorists.
A source at the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) said the drivers’ bosses at privately run 39 Group Transport Co Ltd and Raavechoek Co Ltd also faced fines of up to Bt5,000 each for letting employees break the law and BMTA regulations.
The company directors and drivers are to appear at BMTA head office on Monday (September 3) to explain what happened.
