Rescuers found the body of a two-year-old girl buried under mud in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son’s Sop Moei district, which had been hit by a landslide Sunday evening.

Mae La-oon camp was hit by a deluge of mud at 6.30 pm following heavy downpours, damaging 14 houses in Section 1 of the camp, Colonel Wut Pathomruangkul, commander of the taskforce of the 36th Ranger Regiment, said on Monday.

The incident injured 11 refugees who were taken to the district hospital, he said.

Sop Moei district chief Pa-ob Binsa-ard led volunteers and rangers to search for the missing and found the two-year-old girl’s body, while four men and three women were still unaccounted for.
