Bus driver hit with fine for forcing passenger to disembark at wrong stop

The Buri Ram Land Transport Office has imposed a Bt5,000 fine on a bus driver for dropping a Thai woman and her eight-year-old son 30 kilometres from their intended destination at 2am on October 28, acting office director Phussadee Srisakulthai said on Tuesday.

The bus driver was also suspended for 15 days, while the bus company was fined Bt5,000 for failing to get its drivers to adhere to rules.
Phussadee said initial investigation shows that the incident stemmed from a miscommunication, as the bus conductor had not informed the driver about the mother and son wishing to disembark at Nang Rong Hospital.

According to the passenger’s Facebook post, the driver did not even apologise for missing the stop, and had them get off the bus 30km from their intended destination. The woman said the driver told the bus conductor to tell her to get off at Prakhon Chai district and find another ride back to Nang Rong.
The woman’s post said that she had all along intended to get off at Nang Rong, even when the person at the ticket booth told her that she would have to pay the fare until Prakhon Chai, which worked out to be Bt600 for the two of them.
