Traffic police launched the "No kiss, no hug, no bye" campaign in front of St Gabriel School on Samsen Road at 6.45am, as students prepared to return for the second semester.
The new term could bring traffic congestion in front of major schools when parents deliver their kids for lessons, warned assistant police commissioner general Damrongsak Kittipraphat, who is leading the campaign.
He said traffic police have asked schools to implement measures for parents to drop their kids off as speedily as possible.
For example, kids should be carrying their schoolbags ready to exit the car once it is parked, Damrongsak added.
The campaign is targeting major roads where a large number of schools are located, including Samsen Road, Nakhon Ratchasima Road, Ratchawithi Road, Silom Road, Sathorn Road, Charoen Krung Road, Phetchaburi Road, Asoke Montree Road, Sukhumvit Road and Ploenchit Road.
