Chinese tourists, driver escape serious injury in Karon minivan accident

Four Chinese tourists and a minivan driver escaped serious injury in an accident in the Karon area of Phuket on Monday morning.

Karon police were notified of the incident at a curve on Patak Road in front of the Hilton Hotel entrance at around 2.30am.
Police reported that the minivan driver, 25-year-old Taweesak Hasa from Krabi, along with four Chinese passengers, had all sustained minor injuries as the van flipped over during the accident.
The Chinese tourists were named as 32-year-old female Lei Liu, 53-year-old female Jia Shuju, 32-year-old male Peng Cheng Gao, and a four-year-old girl, Gao Xuanyu.
An initial police report speculates that the minivan driver was allegedly driving at high speed and lost control of his vehicle at the curve.
He and his passengers were heading from Phuket International Airport to the Sugar Marina Hotel in Kata.
No alcohol was found in the driver’s blood test.
