Two alleged mules arrested in Bueng Kan, pills and crystal seized
Two young motorcyclists were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle nearly 14,000 meth pills and 720 grams of "ice" from the Mekong riverbank into Bueng Kan early on Tuesday.
The two suspects were apprehended at a checkpoint on the Bung Kla-Bueng Kan Kan road in Ban Bung Bart village in Tambon Chaiyaporn in Muang district at 4.30am.
Police at the checkpoint signalled a speeding motorcycle to stop at the checkpoint, but it instead slowed and made a U-turn.
When a police car chased the bike, the pillion rider threw a bag onto the roadside before the motorcycle fell over.
The two suspects were identified as Anuchit Wongchomphu, 19, and Adisak Winroj, 19.
Police found 13,839 meth pills, 720 grams of crystal meth and two mobile phones in the bag.
The two suspects said they were given Bt10,000 by a man, identified only as “Kop”, to take the bag from a graveyard in Ban Hauy Leb Mua on the Mekong riverbank in Bung Kla district to deliver to him in Muang district.
