Police saved a woman who attempted to hang herself from a tree in front of her ex-boyfriend's house in Ubon Ratchathani's Muang district early on Thursday.

After being alerted by the woman's ex-boyfriend, police found Paweena (surname withheld), 25, hanging from a mango tree in front of a house in Tambon Jaeramae.

Police say she was not breathing when she was found. Police cut the rope that was around her neck and resuscitated her. Medics from a local foundation took her to Sappasit Hospital.

The ex-boyfriend told police that he broke up with Paweena about a year ago because she often quarreled with his mother.

He said Paweena came to his house three days ago and was drunk and tried to climb over the fence into the house. He took her back to her rented room.

He called police when she returned to his house on Thursday and threatened to kill herself and disappeared.
