A group of runners who launched an awareness campaign for people to give blood have reached Nakhon Ratchasima in their 700-kilometre run from Rayong to Nong Khai.

The Run Blood Now group led by Sarawut Sinpru reached Phimai district in Nakhon Ratchasima at 7pm on Monday.

The group left Rayong on December 5 with the hope of reaching Nong Khai on December 16.

The route runs from Rayong through Chon Buri, Chachoengsao, Prachin Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen and Udon Thani to Nong Khai.

Sarawut said the group wants people to donate blood to mark the anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday on December 5.

He said the volume of donated blood has become inadequate due to an insufficient number of people making regular donations. He hopes the run prompts a rise in pledges leading to at least 7 million cc’s in donations.
