French-Thai forum hails bilateral ties

The France-Thailand Business Forum (FTBF) says it continues its support the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy by attracting French investment.

The FTBF, created by the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking and MEDEF International, said it continues to enhance economic co-operation between France and Thailand, promoting five targeted industries to boost economic growth in Thailand and reinforcing investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
A French business delegation including representatives of leading French companies, led by Francois Corbin, co-chairman of the FTBF, chairman of the France-Thailand Business Council of MEDEF International, and vice president of Michelin (one of the top French investors in Thailand with six factories), are visiting until February 1. Their agenda includes meeting the prime minister, a government and private sector meeting, a visit to the EEC mega-project sites and participating in the second France-Thailand Business Forum, which aims to promote ties between France and Thailand by business collaboration through innovation and advanced technology.
Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Transport, who is chairing the forum, said: “On behalf of the Thai government, it is my pleasure to see this great collaboration between France and Thailand. This is an active collaboration focused on outcome, has a clearly defined structure, and is driven by the private sector, which will help to ensure that it meets their requirements.
“The Thai government is giving full support to this collaboration. Today’s meeting is part of an ongoing mission following the meeting of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and President Emmanuel Macron in France last year. This meeting will help to ensure that all parties make progress and can take advantage of the opportunities resulting from that visit.
“This meeting is also a great forum for dialogue among the public and private sectors to exchange opinions, which will in turn increase the credibility of Thai investments for French investors.”
Dr Kongkrapan Intarajang, co-chairman of the FTBF and chief operating officer of PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, said: “Following up from the successful outcomes from Prayut Chan-o-cha’s visit to Paris in June, FTBF has continued to strengthen the business relationships between Thailand and France, while engaging and working closely with government agencies.”
