Police said the accident took place at 12.45 am on the main road inside the Prasert Songkram Fort of the 27th Army Circle in Ban Nong Ta Kla village in Tambon Nua Muang. 
The pickup hit the pole causing it to break and fall on the front of the vehicle, killing both the driver and a passenger, who were identified as Sgt Jirawat Sonsawat, 28, and Sgt Chaichana Phumphakwaen, 32. 
Police learned from their commander that the two sergeants belonged to the 27th Army Circle and were returning from a secret mission when the accident occurred. 
Police said it was still unknown why the pickup lost control and hit the pole.

Two Army sergeants were killed when their pickup truck hit a roadside power pole in Roi Et's Muang district in the early hours of Monday morning.
