Man killed in car after following up pub dispute on Facebook

A man was fatally shot in front of a pub in Phetchaburi's Muang district early on Tuesday after he made a Facebook post challenging a group of adversaries to meet him there.

The shooting happened in front of the Saeng Tawan pub at 12.20am, after which rescuers removed Praphan Sribenjawan, 57, from his car, which had fallen into a roadside canal. He was taken to the Bangkok Phetchaburi Hospital, where he died.
Police said he had apparently been trying to flee in his car when he was shot once in his face; his car then hit four other vehicles in front of the pub and plunged into the water.
A check of his Facebook page found that he posted about having a quarrel with a group of pubgoers on Sunday night - the two sides then challenged each other online to meet at the pub again the following night.
Police will check CCTV footage to try to identify the gunman.
