The Forestry Department plans to set up its 265 offices on main and secondary roads around the country to provide assistance to motorists during the long Songkran holidays.

Amnuayporn Chondamrongkul, Forestry deputy director general, said the department will turn its 265 field bases around the country into service spots for motorists.

She said tired tourists could stop to drink water or coffee and use the toilets and rest for a while during the long drive home from Friday to next Wednesday.

Each service spot will be manned by six forestry officials and will have a vehicle that can rush people to hospital if necessary, she added.
