Retired official found dead in pickup truck in Tak
A retired civil servant was found dead inside his pickup truck on a roadside in Tak’s Muang district on Thursday morning.
Muang Tak police were alerted at 6.30am that a body was found inside a pickup on the side of northbound Phaholyothin road opposite a well-known noodle shop.
Police found the body of Sawang Kasuya, 60, in the driver’s seat.
A doctor did not find any trace of injury.
Police checked with his relatives and learned that Sawang, a former official of the Agricultural Extension Department, was driving to Lamphun to visit his children. They believe he might have had a health problem and stopped at the roadside.
The owner of the noodle shop told police that he had seen the pickup at the spot since Monday night.
When the pickup did not leave by Thursday morning he went to check. He called police after he smelled a strong stench from inside the vehicle.
