This is part of the second phase of the TCEB's "Creative MICE - Believe in Thailand" project, which aims to upgrade the business model and stimulate the domestic meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry.
"The TCEB is confident that the 'Creative MICE - Believe in Thailand' event in Ubon Ratchathani will raise awareness and boost the MICE business in the province as well as in the region," Akapol Sorasuchart, president of the bureau, said yesterday.
The bureau organised similar activities in four provinces last year - Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Songkhla and Chon Buri.
This year it extended the campaign to the lower North - Phitsanulok - and the Northeast - Khon Kaen and Ubon.
Ubon could offer MICE services with high-quality accommodations, top-class event venues, and communications and transport links within the region. After launching the project in Ubon, the TCEB hopes to raise total key participants in the second phase to 300, Akapol saud.
Governor Surapong Sripan said Ubon held strong potential as a hub for both domestic and international MICE events, thanks to its trade, tourism and investment linkages with neighbouring countries.
The province has already become an international aviation gateway to the GMS, he noted. It serves as the administrative centre in the lower Northeast for both the public and private sectors and is also developing into a centre for education. Surapong said the province offered numerous investment opportunities and huge economic potential for the area.
