Demand for flexible office grows

Rugus, an international provider of flexible workplaces, has opened the fourth outlet in Bangkok to cash in on rising demand after the national election.

The opening of a centre at Sathorn Square coincides with the fifth anniversary of two existing Regus centres in Bangkok - CRC Tower and Q House Lumpini, which both opened in 2006, after the opening in 1999 of a 1st location in the Bangkok M Thai Tower. Since June 2010, Rugus has witnessed a two-fold incrase in demand from companies of all sizes.

"Thailand has bounced back from the global economic crisis and is further down the road to recovery than many other nations," said William Willems, vice president for south-east Asia at Regus. "The favourable economic conditions have not gone unnoticed by businesses, which are increasingly coming to us to use our flexible office space and meeting rooms to test the market, explore new prospects and expand cost-effectively."

Rugus is driven by the bright economic outlook in Thailand. The World Bank expects GDP growth in Thailand to reach 3.7 per cent in 20111 and the international Monetary Fund predicts GDP at 3.4 per cent next year.  It also attributed the growing demand to traffic snarls, which makes working close to home more attractive.

Flexible working costs less than fixed office working, as well as giving staff a better work-life balance and improving morale and productivity. Reducing commuting also has a positive impact on the environment.
