Isuzu starts new Bt6.5bn plant in October

Tri Petch Isuzu Sales Co Ltd is investing Bt6.5 billion in a new pickup manufacturing facility in Gateway Industrial Estate, Chachoengsao, in response to higher export demand for medium and large-sized trucks.

The plant will commence operation in October, with the annual capacity of 90,000 units, said Hiroshi Nakagawa, president of Tri Petch Isuzu Sales.
He expects Isuzu's total capacity this year would be 200,000-250,000 units and 60 per cent of that or 140,000 units is for the domestic market.
Isuzu has just launched the new version of DMAX pickups, with the price range from Bt465,000 to Bt994,000. Sale will start in October. Isuzu also plans to convince its buyers to switch booking for old models to the new models.

Since its launch in 2002, DMAX has generated sales of over 120,000 units in the domestic market. Combined with exports, total sale volume exceeded 2 million units. Nakagawa expects the overwhelming success from the new model, also thanks to the government's first-car scheme.
