Mazda sales reach almost 32,000 units in 9 months

Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co Ltd achieved combined sales of 2,708 Mazda2 sedan and hatchback in September, representing 67 per cent growth and the highest monthly sales ever recorded for this model, thanks to the government's first-car buyer scheme.

Mazda also plans to excite truck market by the new BT-50 pickup truck this year-end.
Choichi Yuki, managing director of Mazda Sales (Thailand), said that the government's scheme helped boost demand for B-car and pickups.
“Mazda enjoyed increased sales that reached almost 4,000 units in September. Most importantly during the last quarter of this year, the competition will intensify because it is the high season for auto sales, especially for subcompacts and pickups. Many companies are planning to launch new models to the market, and Mazda is also prepared. For the pickup market, we are planning to introduce exciting strategies to stimulate the market in the near future. We are also asking people to wait and closely watch out for our all-new BT-50 pickup that will come to eye at the end of the year,” he said.
During January and September, Mazda beat its forecasts with historic growth figures. The company sold a total of 31,847 vehicles, up 24 percent compared to the corresponding period last year when it sold 25,763 units.
Sales comprise of the Mazda2 (19,943 units, up 17 percent) followed by the BT-50 with 7,534 units (up 73 percent). The all-new Mazda3 2.0L has also contributed to 3-quarter sales of 4,338 units of Mazda3. Sales of premium models such as the MX-5 roadster and CX-9 luxury SUV totaled 32 units during this period.

Sureetip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, marketing director, said that auto sales are expected to keep on rising until the end of the year, partly due to the growth of the auto industry and the government's scheme.

“Mazda has enjoyed as much as a 20 per cent increase in sales from buyers who join the scheme, and we think that sales in October, the first full month that the scheme is in effect, will rise by 20 to 25 per cent,” she said.

Customers who are first-time buyers and purchase the Mazda2 will receive the full Bt100,000 rebate from the Excise Department, while BT-50 buyers will receive a Bt70,000 rebate. Mazda is also topping that up with a special 5-per cent down payment promotion plus low 1.99-percent interest and free first-class insurance. Those who trade in their old Mazda for the BT-50 will also get a Bt20,000 cashback (Bt15,000 for other brands).

Mazda's customers who are flood victims can contact service centre near home to estimate the damage.
