Sand vendor possibly faces charge

The Internal Trade Department is prepared to file charge against a construction material vendor who imposes overcharges on sand.
If convicted, the vendor which operates several branches could face upto 7 years in jail term and upto Bt140,000 in fine.
The case followed complaints on excessive sand prices, which prompted surveys in Bangkok's suburban areas. The vendor was found selling a 20kg sandbag at Bt55 and netting an extra high margin.
The department welcomes complaints to Hotline 1569.
