Information and Communications Technology Minister Anudith Nakornthap said yesterday that the incoming call traffic to telephone number 1111 extension 5 was 30,000 per day, down from 60,000 on the first day of the service on October 6.
The call-centre system features three tiers of operation. The first tier handles requests for basic information, the second tier handles requests for information related to specific state agencies, and the third tier is linked with the authorities that can send rescue teams to help flood victims.
The system is also linked with the call centres of all private cellular operators. If its lines are busy, it will route calls to those operators, which will help handle cases for it.
