"Mazda’s business in Thailand as well as related businesses needs to resume operation as soon as possible – this will help maintain the supply in the Thai auto market. Last month there were clear signs of demand for automobiles in the country, and Mazda enjoyed a year on year growth of 23.8 percent in October with sales of 3,284 units, enabling us to capture a historic 7.7 percent market share. The resumption of the New Mazda2 and All New Mazda3 2.0L production on November 14 will help us deliver vehicles to customers in time," said Choichi Yuki, managing director of MST, who expresses his sympathy and support to the Thai people affected by the flood crisis.
Sureetip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, narketing director, added that in October, Mazda was still highly successful and maintained highest growth with sales of 3,284 units, equivalent to a 23.8 per cent growth compared to the same month last year where we sold only 2,652 vehicles.
October sales comprised of 1,335 units of the Mazda2 ELEGANCE 4-door sedan, 953 units of the Mazda2 SPORTS 5-door hatchback (totaling 2,288 units and up 42 percent compared to the corresponding period last year where 1,611 units were sold), followed by 768 units (up 26.1 percent) of the Mazda BT-50 pickup which has not been affected too much by the flood since major markets are in upcountry areas. And the Mazda3 were able to sell 228 units last month.”
