As of December 1, aggregate earnings were compiled from 442 listed firms – about 93 per cent – of the total 472 companies listed on the SET, in the first nine months of this year. Of the firms, 386 companies – 87.33 per cent – made net profits, said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira.
“Sales and net profits of listed firms in the first nine months grew significantly. There is evidence to indicate the strong fundamentals of Thai companies in most sectors. The performances do not reflect any impact from Thailand’s floods on some companies,” Charamporn said,
Total sales of the 442 companies rose 24.89 per cent to Bt6.43 trillion. The top-five firms in terms of net profits were PTT, PTT Exploration and Production, Siam Commercial Bank, Siam Cement and Bangkok Bank.
The three best-performing industries in the first nine months were resources, financials, and property and construction. Energy and utilities, banking, and construction materials were the top-three profit makers in terms of absolute amounts.
