The supply from the Yetagun gas field would be partially substituted by gas from the Gulf of Thailand, it said in a statement, to ensure no disruption in supply to power generating and industrial plants.
Peerapong Achariyacheevin, executive vice president, said that the annual maintenance takes place during Thailand's New Year holiday period whereby power demand is usually low. As such, demand for gas supply from Burma could be cut by about 600 million cubic feet per day.
"PTT in cooperation with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, large-sized power plants and industrial plants has prepared for this...to assure that power users and industrial plants in the west of Thailand would not be affected by the maintenance," he said.
