TrueVisions offers new channels, hack-proof set-top boxes

TrueVisions, a leading subscription-based television operator, will emphasise exclusive international content and locally produced programmes this year to retain customers.

It also plans to provide 400,000 new high-definition set-top boxes for its premium subscribers by June. The new boxes can protect against piracy and hacking of the broadcasting signal.
Attaphon Na Bangxang, chief programme and content officer, said the company would continue adding high-quality and exclusive programmes imported from overseas. This is a key strategy to retain subscribers, who currently number between 400,000 and 450,000.
Yesterday, TrueVisions introduced four new channels from BBC Worldwide Channels Asia. Those are BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Entertainment and, for children, CBeebies. These channels are aired on the Platinum and Gold packages.
Meanwhile the company is also developing its own programmes. For example, it has bought the copyright of a famous South Korean drama named “Coffee Prince” for reproduction with local actors and actresses. This is aimed at increasing customers for the free-view package.
With these strategies, chief commercial officer Ongard Prapakamol said he wanted to see double-digit growth in the number of paying subscribers.
