No plan to sell PTT shares: Kittiratt

Deputy Prime Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong has quashed news reports that the government plans to sell a stake in PTT Plc to Vayupak Fund.

In his address to Parliament on Thursday, he said that the government has no such plan.
Kittiratt said that the reports originated during a media interview with Virabongsa Ramangkura, who suggested that unloading PTT shares would reduce the public debt.
The reports have raised criticisms from the Opposition as well as some senators. PTT recently also asked for clarity, as it would no longer enjoy state enterprise status following the share sale.
Democrat MP Korn Chatikavanij on Thursday posted on his Facebook page that Kittiratt had still failed to clear concerns about conflict of interest. He said that PTT recently welcomed a new director, who previously worked for Shin Group - the former business empire of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He added that Thaksin himself also invested in overseas energy projects. “This involves hundreds of billion of benefits,” he said.
