Out-of-fridge cartons will change colour

Tetra Pak has reportedly invented milk cartons that will change colour when left out of the fridge for too long.
According to the Financial Times, the Switzerland-based company is developing a chip that can be embedded in the cartons and can detect how long the product has been out of the refrigerator.
The chip can be scanned by a mobile phone to show details about the farm and cow that produced the milk, under a partnership with Brazilian food cooperative Aurora.
Last year, Tetra Pak launched the first aseptic milk carton and supplied packaging for more than 76 billion litres of milk, juice and other drinks.

Prudential Thailand
income up 14%
Prudential Thailand reported that its insurance-premium income grew by 14 per cent to Bt4.17 billion last year.
Binayak Dutta, chief executive officer, said this achievement was built on the company’s prudent and well-planned marketing strategy to cope with tough competition as well as the focus on multi-channel distribution and a customer-centric approach.
The ability to maintain its reserve at Bt2.7 billion, 309 per cent higher than the legal requirement as of December 30, 2011, also reflects that the company’s sales growth has been built on prudent investment and a robust financial position, Binayak said.
The company will focus further on agency expansion, which includes new agent recruitment and the opening of offices across the country. In addition, bancassurance and telemarketing are expected to drive growth. – The Nation
